IS ACUPUNCTURE PAINFUL?
The needles used in acupuncture are made of stainless steel and thinner
than hair. They are generally, painless, but some patients mention that
the sensation feels like removing Band Aid from the skin or hardly
noticeable.
-
ARE NEEDLES DISPOSABLE?
YES. Acupuncture needles are made of sterile stainless steel, disposable,
and never reused.
-
HOW LONG IS THE TREATMENT?
The first treatment is about one hour to one hour 30 minutes in duration
depending on the medical condition. This
includes the evaluation and compilation of your medical history. The
follow-up treatment can range from 30 to 45 minutes.
-
HOW DO I KNOW THAT ACUPUNCTURE IS
WORKING FOR ME?
Generally, patients experience relaxation and feeling of calmness and
relief of symptoms on the first treatment. At other times and in more
chronic conditions, progress is seen after several follow-up treatments.
In each session, the patient’s condition is evaluated, documented, and
closely monitored for progress.
-
CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP TREAT A 10 YEAR
OLD BACK PAIN?
YES. This type of pain is considered chronic and could be treated with
Acupuncture by itself or in conjunction with pain management or physical
medicine.
-
I HAVE A TERRIBLE LOW BACK PAIN AFTER
AN EPIDURAL INJECTION (DURING PREGNANCY), CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP ME?
YES. Acupuncture treatment has been used to resolve low back pain
without the use of painkillers or sedatives. Acupuncture has a branch of
study and treatment that specializes in gynecological problems, like PMS
and Menopause.
-
DO YOU PROVIDE TREATMENT AT HOME OR
OTHER LOCATIONS?
YES. Some of my patients have been injured at work and cannot move due
to pain or simply feel more comfortable receiving treatment at home.
Note that Ms. De Lauren books only a very limited number of in-home
treatments per week so please call our office first to confirm
locations, fees, and her availability. There is also a $100
surcharge for in-home treatment.
-
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept only personal checks or cash. We may accept certain Workers Compensation cases and Health Insurance
plans (subject to
eligibility and benefit verification prior to treatment) but please call
our office first to verify. Unfortunately, we
feel that insurance carriers do not provide reasonable
compensation to acupuncture professionals and that the paperwork
involved in submitting a claim can be costly and burdensome.
We reserve the right not to accept certain insurance
coverage if we determine that the potential insurance reimbursement is
inadequate and unreasonable.
